How To Build A Buggy
The JAS buggy remains one of the easiest kits cars to produce at home in the UK, not to mention one of the best lookers.
All you need is an old VW Beetle and a JAS Kit.
The JAS Buggy uses the old VW Beetle to donate the Chassis, Engine and all electrical systems. The only real mechanical work to be done is restoring the Beetle chassis if it needs it and shortening it by 12" inches (we can do this for you) Once the shell has been removed from the beetle, the fibre glass buggy body bolts on where the last one came off... How easy is that !!
Here @ Beachbuggies.co.uk, you will find everything you need to get going. If you decide to go-ahead and build your own, the first step is a donor vehicle. Keep an eye in your local papers or take a look down in the scrap yard for a VW Beetle.
The Sky is the limit when it comes to personalising your buggy, with a range of wheels to choose from, all weather soft tops, roll cages, new high performance engines (the JAS Buggy will even accept Porsche engines) sports seats, etc. etc.

( we can do this for you very cheaply )

When choosing a donor vehicle, it is important to check for general chassis fatigue, solid suspension and steering mechanisms and of course a road worthy engine. Beetles that are built using the McPherson Front Strut type suspension system are not compatible e.g.. 1302, 1303 (Although we are able to adapt them in our workshop)
